Father's day activity ideas

Father’s Day is that one special day every year to celebrate the fathers in your life. It can look different for everyone, you can celebrate your father, spouse, step-father, brother, or a role model.

Finding things to do for Father’s Day can be difficult. If you’re having a hard time thinking of something, try some of the ideas below. We're sure these Father's Day experiences will suit the man of honor, no matter what his hobbies and interests are.

1. Take a Music Class Together. Maybe your dad has always wanted to learn to play the piano, or the guitar. If your dad is the musical type, he would no doubt love the opportunity to learn how to play a new instrument, if you don’t want to go anywhere you can find a virtual class.

2. Have a Backyard Movie Night. Make it a special occasion by setting up a projector and big screen and giving Dad the cinema experience in the comfort of his own backyard. You can get candy, pop corn, chips or any snack you are craving. The best part of it, kids will enjoy it too!

3. Take a Virtual Cooking Class. If Dad is a foodie, he'll love this. Airbnb offers online experiences that you can enjoy from your own home, so he and the kids can learn to make mexican street tacos with a professional chef or pasta with an italian grandma. Bon appetit!

4. Have a Photo Shoot. Get all the dads, grandpas, uncles, and other father figures in your life together and have an outdoor photoshoot. The whole family will love having these photos and looking back on them year after year.

5. Dress Up. It's always a good time to break out the costumes, and whether you want to get all fancy for an afternoon tea party or you want to help Dad re-enact his favorite movie characters — James Bond, anyone? — he'll have fun bringing out his inner kid again.

6. Have a Dance Party. There are few more fun ways to celebrate than with a good dance party, and Dad will love to spend some time on Father's Day rocking out to his favorite tunes, from salsa to cha cha, you can dance any rhythm you want.

7. Have a Game Day. Dust off some of your family's favorite games for a fun game party on Father's Day. Simple word games, board games and card games are great for small groups. For groups of more than six, avoid games with individual written responses or lots of moving pieces. Interactive team games like charades or an electronic trivia game are great crowd-pleasers.

8. Put On a Show. If you want to plan something more creative, put on a show! The kids can sing a song, do a dramatic reading or dance his favorite song. He's sure to love it.

9. Serve Breakfast In Bed. Dad deserves a hearty breakfast right when he wakes up! Have the kids help you make one of these delicious recipes for breakfast in bed. You can make something simple like pancakes with his favorite fruit or something more elaborated like a spinach omelet.

10. Go Camping. There's so much exploring and bonding to be had on a camping trip, it's  a fun and economical vacation choice and kids can learn important life lessons while enjoying the outdoors. Treat dad to a great outdoor getaway by helping him pitch a tent, make some s'mores and do a little stargazing.
